What's the difference between a giclee fine art print and a canvas fine art print?GICLEE PRINTS The biggest difference between a standard inkjet print and a giclee print is that giclees are printed using pigment-based inks rather than dye-based inks that are found in lower-cost inkjets. Pigment-based inks have a longer lifespan: they can last anywhere from 100-200 years without significant fading. More than 65% of galleries now sell giclees. Eight to twelve or more pigment-based inks are used to reproduce giclee fine art prints. The result is a printed image consisting of a much more complete range of the color gamut than otherwise possible, and is the closest method to reproduction of the original piece. CANVAS PRINTS A canvas print is a giclee high quality print on textured museum-grade canvas. A canvas print is the result of an image printed onto canvas which is often stretched, or gallery-wrapped, onto a frame and displayed. Canvas prints are used as the final output in an art piece, or as a way to reproduce other forms of art. One of the advantages of having a canvas print is that they look more expensive compared to a framed print. It's also glare-free and inexpensive without sacrificing durability or quality. A disadvantage is that canvas prints aren't waterproof in comparison to framed prints which generally as a glass frame. The reproductions you receive will last for more than a hundred years, if kept out of direct sunlight under normal indoor conditions. This means you need to pay attention to where you hang your image, if you want the vibrant colors to remain as they are for years to come. Finishing with a frame creates a polished look for canvas prints. If you are showcasing many prints on the same wall, framing them all with the same wood unifies the artwork, no matter their style or subject. A custom cotton canvas blend is the best choice for canvas printing as opposed to a polyester canvas. You will want to seek out this type of canvas, as the image quality and colors are better.

What is the advantage of purchasing a digital file version of an original artwork, over owning the original?Possessing a high resolution print-ready digital file of an original artwork has several advantages over owning an original signed artwork: 1) Having a digital art file allows you to keep a copy of the work virtually forever. 2) You can use your own printing preferences and any printing service you like, and print at any size possible up to the artwork's original dimensions. 3) The quality of the image of the digitized artwork never deteriorates over time as a PDF at 300PPI/DPI. 4) You can print the digital copy of the artwork using high quality inks on fine canvas to closely mimic a higher value faithful reproduction of the original artwork. This also adds value to the art space on the wall, and to whatever item you choose to display the printed work.

Why does the Chris Paul Art store not offer framed prints? The Chris Paul Art store specializes in high quality, museum-grade prints. It is the goal of the artist Chris Paul to provide his original artwork to the public in a way that is safe, secure and with a high standard of excellence. While Printful maintains a stellar record of shipping high quality products around the world, it ultimately has no direct control over any unforeseen accidents that may occur during the actual shipment. Many frames are very delicate and require the most care in handling to avoid being damaged. The Chris Paul Art store cannot fully guarantee that a framed canvas or poster print will never go undamaged during shipment. This may change in the future based on frequency of frame damage incidents, reports, customer feedback and new data. The artist Chris Paul would rather leave his artwork's display decision to you as the customer, with many more frame options available elsewhere than what is currently stocked in Printful's inventory.

Why do some digital art files take longer to download than others? The digital art files purchased from the Chris Paul Art store are of the highest quality possible with no compression. Their resolution is 300 DPI. This means that the more color information that is stored in the PDF image file the larger the file will be. The larger the original artwork is the more information that is scanned and then digitized into the image file, resulting in a larger file size. So, a 24x36 inch colorful painting at 300 DPI will have a larger file size when digitized than a 12x24 inch black and white artwork at the same resolution. Download speeds depend on your internet connection and the servers being used to process file sharing. Downloading a large digital art file will take noticeably longer on a slow internet connection. Usually, a 100 MB file being downloaded at a 64 Mbps internet download speed will take just a few seconds to download onto your device. Downloads that take longer than 5 minutes mean you have a slow internet connection and/or the server is experiencing higher than normal traffic. Most modern computers and smart phone devices are powerful enough to handle larger files quickly. If you are unable to download the digital art file you should contact your internet service provider (ISP) and check your internet/Wi-Fi settings. You can check your internet speed for free using Google's free internet speed test tool. Simply type, "Internet Speed Test" into Google's Search Bar, and click "Run Speed Test".
